New Zealand might not have particularly exotic wild mammals, but we do have wild penguins breeding on our shores. On our driving tour of the South Island, we saw dozens of wild penguins up close and for free. You can view wild penguins without going to Antarctica using a host of resources that highlight New Zealand penguins.
